HUMAN RESOURCES

C&R's philosophy is that people are everything, the most important resource, and the reason C&R exists. C&R has lost only two shop people in 20 years. Their employees are highly and continuously trained. Everyone attends at least one external training session per year and receives many in-house training sessions.

C&R's typical new employee is 18 to 24 years old, has never worked in another machine shop and receives 5 years of in-house training.

Because of C&R's unique system of machinists, employee empowerment, and automation allow the company's production levels to rise dramatically while the same, highly motivated core-personnel perform their tasks.

For further insight into HR philosophies at C&R, see the comments by Ron Wosel about avoiding Employee Turnover.

Excellence in Human Resource Management brings with it flexible and highly motivated workers. Here we see a worker performing an assembly operation while at the same time setting up and monitoring ongoing automated processes. Employee determination of the best way in which to perform several tasks at the same time can bring with it extraordinary productivity and quality improvements. Because C&R is an ESOP Company, profits are shared with employee/owners who see a direct financial benefit from all contributions they make to improved performance at C&R.
